Job summary

An exciting 6 month fixed term opportunity has arisen for an enthusiastic and experienced leader to develop their career, managing a portfolio of qualityimprovement projects and supporting the realisation of benefits for our patients. You will be instrumental in facilitating our Quality improvements in clinical practice and our Safety process improvements to deliver excellent patient care, while supporting our staff to work as effectively as possible. This role will work closely with Community Service Line leadership and Borough Clinical Leaders to support the delivery of national and Trustwide safety and quality requirements in addition to ensuring and monitoring a continuous high standard of clinical governance quality improvements within the service. To plan and deliver improvements to our Fundamental Standards of Care, patient and carer feedback from our CQC Survey and clinical pathways in our community services. There will be a focus on quality improvement, patient and carer views, productivity, data and outcomes as key enablers for this change.

We are looking to recruit a dynamic and motivated professional mental health leader who can start the post running and will champion a high level of professional standards and excellence across our adult community services, working to build on the achievements of our community service line.

Main duties of the job

We are looking for someone who is ready to step up and quickly step in to a more senior, cross-cutting leadership role, and working across our Community boroughs and interfacing with our other service lines. Experience of healthcare service management, training and development and data analysis, as well as the organisation, project planning and delivery of change and improvement, are essential to this role.

You will be positive and self-motivated as well as able to enthuse and bring others with you, creating constructive and sustainable benefits in partnership with clinical teams. You will be expected to work closely with the Community Senior Management Team, Borough Leadership Teams, Community and Trustwide colleagues in a matrix structure to support the development and delivery of change, while putting patients at the heart of our improvements.

About our locations:

Springfield University Hospital, Tooting

Our largest, 19-ward site is in Springfield Village, created following our £150m investment into two new world class mental health facilities. A 32-acre public park, shops and cafes are coming soon. Close to shops, cafes and Tooting Bec on the Northern Line plus Earlsfield and Tooting rail stations and bus routes.

Job responsibilities

Support the development of quality and safety improvements within the adult community service line, encouraging clinical colleagues to challenge the status quo.

Use tested and credible tools and techniques, including lean processes, to evaluate and analyse highly complex and contentious issues, which adversely affect current Service Line performance in clinical and administrative processes. Assist with problem-solving to find and understand root causes of underperformance.

Work to support the implementation of improved pathways of care or administrative processes that bring about higher quality and less waste

Devise and develop appropriate information sharing systems to facilitate effective working practices for new end to end processes.

Support community service line to understand data capture and associated reporting, including robust benefits realisation for each project.

Support the development of business cases if required.

Organise service line workshops as appropriate to present complex information to staff and senior leaders and engage them in the process of change.

Support drafting quality impact assessments of service transformation and change.

Establish and mange effective governance arrangements for the Clinical Service Line improvement programme.

Ensure that programme outputs are of a high quality and on time and within budget.

Proactively monitor programme progress, issues and risks, taking corrective and mitigating action where necessary.

Draft highly complex, sensitive and contentious information and present this draft information in a clearly understandable format for various stakeholders to support the transformation/change process.

Keep service value and sustainability at the heart of change and seek out and develop opportunities to improve the efficiency of services.

Address specific opportunities for improving value by analysing productivity and identifying and driving through action plans to optimise this, in partnership with Community Service Line and borough teams.

Essential

Experience of managing mental caseload/pathway or of managing a mental health multi disciplinary team Experience of working at and with a senior clinical or management level Experience of meeting deadlines for large programmes of work Experience of drafting reports for committees and programme board meetings Experience of service development/redesign and leading on successful implementation of substantial change

Desirable

Experience of producing project plans and project management against milestones and deliverables Experience of procurement process

Training & Qualification

Essential

Master degree or equivalent or professional qualification Project management qualification (PRINCE2 for example) Evidence of ongoing professional registration
