The Role:

As an SEMH Teaching Assistant, you will play a crucial role in supporting our students' educational and emotional development. Your main responsibilities will include:

  • Providing one-on-one and small group support to students with SEMH needs.
  • Assisting the class teacher in planning and delivering tailored lessons and activities.
  • Creating a positive and inclusive classroom environment.
  • Implementing individual education plans (IEPs) and behavior support plans.
  • Supporting students in developing social skills, self-regulation, and coping strategies.
  • Monitoring and recording students' progress and reporting to the SENCO and teaching staff.
  • Collaborating with other professionals, including therapists and external agencies, to provide holistic support for students.

Requirements:

  • Previous experience working with children or young people with SEMH needs.
  • A compassionate and patient approach, with excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to build positive relationships with students, staff, and parents/carers.
  • Strong organizational skills and the ability to work effectively as part of a team.
  • Relevant qualifications (e.g., CACHE Level 3, NVQ Level 3 in Supporting Teaching and Learning, or equivalent) are desirable but not essential.
  • A commitment to ongoing professional development and a willingness to undertake further training as required.

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
