Job summary

Applications are invited for the post of Advanced Endoscopy Fellow at the Bradford Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust. This is a fixed term post from Sep 2024 until end of August 2025. Applicants must have full registration with the GMC and preferably post CCT.

This is a fantastic opportunity for a post CCT trainee to learn and improve skills in all aspects of Advanced Luminal Endoscopy focusing on submucosal endoscopy ESD/Advanced EMR s/ Radiofrequency ablation/Full thickness resection. Applications from Pre CCT trainees will also be considered provided agreement/approval from TPD and applicant is fully independent in Diagnostic gastroscopy and colonoscopy. The fellow will contribute to service lists and a clinic , however there will be no on call commitment or inpatient work.

Main duties of the job

The post-holder will be required to provide four service clinical sessions/week. It is envisaged that there will be at least 3 endoscopy lists/week and 1 clinic/week, including evening clinic/lists.

The postholder is expected to attend 4 training lists per week to train with Dr Mundre and Dr Lord in advanced luminal endoscopic procedures such as Complex EMR s, RFA s , Dysplasia assessment , chromo endoscopy and exposure to ESD would be provided depending on experience and skills

Occasionally the post holder may need to support/teach juniors to insert ascitic drains on the day ward.

No commitment to on-call for Gastroenterology/GIM is required for the post. If the post is to be recognised for OOPE, then the appropriate agreement from the Deanery/SAC will need to be obtained.

The appointee will take an active role in audit and clinical governance and will comply with all the Trust infection control policies.

The appointee will participate and co-operate with all Directorate Management arrangements.

Qualifications

MBBS or equivalent medical qualification Eligible for full registration with the GMC at time of appointment Evidence of achievement of Foundation competencies by the time of appointment in line with GMC standards in Good Medical Practice Evidence of satisfactory progression of speciality training and experience at registrar level ( completion of CCT; satisfactory ARCP outcome) and/or support from TPD for applicants in training Evidence of achievement of MRCP (or equivalent overseas qualification)
