We are seeking an experienced research project manager to support an exciting, cross-institutional research hub. The Hub aims to develop new understanding of AI leading to better, more trustworthy and reliable methods. The Hub will engage broadly both with the wide UK Mathematics and AI research communities, and with non-academic stakeholders. This work is funded by the EPSRC under their Mathematical and Computational Foundations of AI call. Whilst led by Lancaster University, it involves groups at the Universities of Bristol, Cambridge, Edinburgh, Manchester and Warwick.

You will be responsible for the smooth running of the administration and processes of the Hub, with a particular focus on engagement activities with industrial and other non-academic stakeholders. The broad areas of responsibility include the organisation of project meetings, outreach and engagement events, workshops and conferences, summer schools, financial management, managing our web and social media presence, maintaining good communication across the six institutions of the hub, and extensive management of external relationships with stakeholders. You will take ownership of these roles and ensure a high quality of service to the programme’s leadership team.

To succeed in the post you will have a proven track record of managing and facilitating a large scale research initiative; experience of engagement with industrial and other non-academic partners, and of organising successful events such as workshops. You will have demonstrated the ability to work pro-actively; have excellent and efficient organisational skills; have strong strategic vision and team working skills; have the ability to build strong relationships at all levels through excellent communication skills. Experience with public engagement activities, maintaining websites and developing a social media presence is desirable.

The post is indefinite, subject to funding which is due to end on 31st January 2029. It is a full-time position, although we will consider applicants requesting job-share or other flexible working arrangements. We welcome applications from people in all diversity groups.

Potential applicants are encouraged to contact the Hub PI, Paul Fearnhead () for an informal conversation about the role.
