Qualifications
- Possess a Level 3 Early Years qualification and ideally hold a relevant leadership and management qualification
- Demonstrate proven leadership experience within an early years setting, ideally in a deputy or supervisory role with a track record of successfully managing and motivating a team.
- Exhibit a strong understanding of early years curriculum, child development, and regulatory requirements. The ideal candidate will have a comprehensive knowledge of safeguarding practices, curriculum planning, and assessment methods.
- Showcase excellent communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills. The Deputy Manager should be adept at building positive relationships with staff, parents, and external partners, while effectively managing administrative tasks and overseeing daily operations.
- Display a passion for creating an inclusive and diverse learning environment for young children. The ideal candidate will be committed to promoting diversity, equality, and inclusion within the nursery and demonstrate a genuine enthusiasm for supporting each child's unique needs.
Responsibilities
- Collaborate with the Nursery Manager to oversee the day-to-day operation of the nursery, including staff management, curriculum development, and adherence to regulatory standards. This includes managing staff schedules, organizing daily activities, and ensuring compliance with health and safety regulations.
- Provide supervision and support to nursery staff, offering leadership and guidance to cultivate a positive and inclusive work environment. This involves conducting regular team meetings, providing coaching and mentorship, and resolving any staff-related issues that may arise.
- Cultivate strong relationships with parents, children, and external stakeholders, advocating for open communication and fostering collaboration. This includes organizing parent engagement events, addressing parental concerns, and liaising with external agencies and professionals to support the needs of the children.
- Contribute to the continuous enhancement of the nursery, nurturing a culture of innovation and best practices. This involves actively participating in quality improvement initiatives, contributing to staff training programs, and promoting a culture of continuous learning and development.
- Serve as a role model in delivering outstanding care and education to children, contributing to their holistic development. The Deputy Manager will actively engage with the children, lead by example in implementing the nursery's curriculum, and provide emotional and educational support to meet the needs of each child.
