My client is a global pioneer in laboratory automation that is used by the top 10 pharmaceutical companies and is truly shaping the future of laboratory automation integration. Their disruptive lab automation scheduling software & robotics hardware are easy to use, scalable, and adaptable for the vital work of scientific discovery

Are you already a Field Applications Specialist/Applications Scientist/Lab Robotics Software Engineer with experience in installing, testing, and scripting laboratory automation software in C++?

Or are you an experienced Laboratory Automation Scientist with extensive experience in laboratory workflows and scripting in C++/ in a laboratory automation/liquid handling robotics environment who is motivated to transition into this on-site dedicated Laboratory Automation Software Engineer role?

Responsibilities 

  • Located near an international airport with the flexibility to travel when needed for the client
  • Development and implementation of customized, optimal laboratory automation solutions for customer workflows in areas such as drug discovery, sample storage, genomics, chemical synthesis
  • Understand the customer’s needs for automation success to determine equipment and processes within the workflow
  • Experience in performing software installations, writing scripts in C++ and utilising other programming languages such as Python for configuration, integration and testing at customer sites across the UK & mainland Europe
  • Troubleshooting and resolution (may involve external service resources)
  • Collaborate with software developers and testers to integrate software into functional system
  • Be the conduit to transfer important information to other Applications & technical teams (Integrations & Software) to best support pre-sales opportunities
  • Contribute to marketing efforts to generate material that will promote our client’s disruptive laboratory robotics and scheduling software

Essential Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Life Science, Molecular and Cell Biology, Biochemistry, or related subjects
  • Experience with laboratory automation manufacturers and their instrumentation
  • Familiarity with automation friendly equipment
  • Knowledge in programming/scripting languages – including C#, JavaScript, Python or Visual Basic
  • Excellent creativity, analytical, problem solving, and time management skills
  • Excellent verbal and written technical communication skills with an emphasis on ability to present effectively to a diverse audience
  • Excellent interpersonal and relationship building skills; strong team player
  • Ability to coordinate and execute upon multiple priorities within demanding and tight timelines
  • Ability to be flexible, innovative, and creative while working smartly in a fast-paced, high growth environment
  • Proactive in maintaining an awareness of current and emerging technologies/trends in the life sciences research sector
  • Ability to work independently with little oversight Ability to travel, 30-50%

Desirable Requirements

  • Advanced degrees and specialization may be beneficial but not required
  • Based Cambridgeshire/Southeast England area but all locations in the UK will be considered
