We are hiring a Program Assistantfor one of our clients in TrentonNJ.

JobDescription:

  • Conductsoutreach and expands access to housing by cultivating relationshipswith property owners and management companies and connecting withlandlords via neighborhood outreach Internet search and networkingevents.
  • Develops expertise in availableaffordable housing sites and housing subsidies
  • Develops and maintains accurate and current housingportfolio.
  • Provides participants withlistings of potential housing options in alignment with their needsand geographic preferences.
  • Develops andmaintains accurate and current housing portfolio.
  • Provides participants with listings of potential housingoptions in alignment with their needs and geographicpreferences.
  • Provides an overview ofincentives that are available to owners who lease to EHV HCV andmainstream participants.
  • Assists participantsin their housing search including applying for apartmentsnegotiating with potential landlords making referrals to otherhousing location services and accompanying participants toapartment viewings as needed
  • Identifies andplaces participants of DCA tenant based rental assistance intoappropriate housing with the goal of housing participants in lessthan 90 days of issuance of voucher program
  • Helps participants to mitigate issues with credit reportsutility arrears criminal records unfavorable landlord referencesand other issues which are barriers to securing safe decent andaffordable housing.
  • Assists participants withhousing applications including preparing/obtaining any neededdocumentation and tracking application status
  • Advocates on behalf of participants to expedite theiraccess to housing
  • Arranges for timelyinspections and follow up with landlord on failed units aboutcorrective actions and reinspection.
    • Determines rent reasonableness for inspected units priorto rental assistance and lease approval
    • Reviewand explains the lease and sublease agreement with the incomingparticipant(s)/subtenant
    • Works with casemanagers to address any emerging issues related to housing andcommunity adjustment
  • Assists clients with moving (help locating affordablemoving companies locating storage units acquiring furniture andother movein essentials etc.)
  • Conducts regularinperson postplacement visits mitigates risks and helps improve thelikelihood of housing retention
  • Attendscollaborative meetings and networks with other agencies and housingrelated coalitions
  • Actively participates instaff meetings and trainings
  • Perform all otherduties as required.

WorkHours:

  • 8 am4 pm
  • Lunch Hours (unpaid): 1hr

  • Will cover1/3 of the NJ North Central South.
