Job summary

Thisis an exciting opportunity to join the well established inpatient physiotherapyteam at Darlington Memorial Hospital we are recruiting for two full time band 3physiotherapy assistants.

We are looking for anenthusiastic applicant to join our team. You will work alongside Physiotherapystaff and the wider MDT and your development will be supported by senior staffworking within these areas. Outstanding organisation and communication skillsare required in order to support with the rehabilitation of patients.

Main duties of the job

Thesuccessful applicant will work as part of the wider physiotherapy team toprovide inpatient rehabilitation to clients in a range of settings withininpatients at DMH. The role has a 7 day working requirement.

The successful applicantwill work independently and as part of the team to provide physiotherapytreatment to clients on the medical, surgical, frailty and orthopaedic wards,working alongside other physiotherapist and assistants. They will also carryout administration tasks to support the service.

Supporting the inpatientphysiotherapy team as an assistant will involve working with physiotherapists,other physiotherapy assistants and members of the MDT and independentlycarrying out treatment plans provided by the physiotherapist.

Thepatients will have a wide range of conditions and require a range ofphysiotherapy treatment including providing walking aids and carrying outmobility and strength rehabilitation with the aim of supporting patients tosafely return home or support discharge flow into the community hospitals forfurther rehabilitation.

We provide hospital services from two acute sites - Darlington Memorial Hospital and University Hospital of North Durham. We have a centre for planned care in Bishop Auckland and provide care from community hospitals in Chester-le-Street, Shotley Bridge, Barnard Castle, Sedgefield and Weardale as well as over 80 other community based settings and providing care in patients' homes.

Person Specification

Qualifications

Essential

NVQ Level 3 in Health and Social care or equivalent/relevant experience.

Special Skills and Knowledge

Essential

Evidence of Team working Ability to work independently and with minimal supervision Excellent communication and interpersonal skills. Good organisational skills. Ability to present information, written and orally, in a clear and logical manner. Confident in the use of email and basic IT skills.

Desirable

Experience working as Physiotherapy Assistant or equivalent role in healthcare working at Band 2 or above. Knowledge of community therapy services accessible to patients.

Experience

Essential

Experience of clinical supervision. Experience working in a hospital setting with an inpatient client group.

Desirable

Experience of working in a community setting Experience of audit/research Basic competency training in: mobility, assessment, progression of mobility, provision of walking aids, stair assessment, passive movement, passive stretches and individual exercise programmes.
