SuttoninAshfield, United Kingdom Sherwood Forest Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust Full time

Job summary

An opportunity has arisen for a dynamic and motivated midwife to join our well-respected team in an exciting new developmental role. We are expanding our team and seeking an experienced Band 6 midwife to work closely with Specialist Midwives for Perinatal Mental Health and Substance Misuse. This role will involve working with women and birthing families across the region, maintaining high standards of care for those experiencing mental health and substance misuse issues during the pregnancy continuum.

You will need a passion for supporting women with these additional complexities, as well as being compassionate and professional. Possessing excellent midwifery knowledge and skills, and being open to professional development opportunities, are essential. Additionally, you will support colleagues in providing the highest standard of care for our women, babies, and families. This involves adhering to local, regional, and national guidelines, while meeting the objectives of the national maternity agenda.

Main duties of the job

You will be responsible for providing midwifery care to women and birthing parents experiencing moderate and severe mental health problems. This involves collaborating with local mental health services and multi-agency teams. Additionally, you will closely collaborate with the Specialist Midwife for substance misuse, supporting her in joint obstetric clinics and developing skills and knowledge to assist women facing substance misuse challenges during pregnancy.

You will work in close partnership with women, birthing parents, and their families to plan and coordinate their care based on their individual needs. This will involve connecting with the maternity service and other relevant services to ensure adherence to appropriate pathways and care plans, all of which are communicated for the safety and well-being of our families. Your role will encompass facilitating holistic care that enhances both mental and physical health.
