We are able to offer the very exciting opportunity of a 12 month fixed term position within an internationally renowned pain management centre. This post offers an opportunity to work with leaders in the world of pain and its management and gain valuable experience to support future applications for work in this specialism. The successful candidate will work within UCLH Foundation Hospital Trust, NHNN pain management centre: treating complex and challenging patients with persistent pain.

The post offers opportunities to work within a interdisciplinary team of physiotherapists, psychologists, nurse specialists and pain consultants. The successful candidate will participate in our outpatient (face-to-face and online) pain management programmes, a physiotherapy led exercise group, and individual work, depending on service needs.

Main duties of the job

In addition to management of generalised complex persistent pain the department also offers specialised services for abdominopelvic pain and facial pain of which physiotherapy plays a key role. This post offers ongoing supervision with physiotherapists and psychologists, regular clinical and non clinical meetings and participation within an ongoing staff education programme.

The successful candidate will manage an individual caseload of people with chronic pain in addition to being part of the team delivering one of our pain management programmes. Awareness of cognitive behavioural therapy approaches, including acceptance and commitment therapy, experience of working with groups and an understanding of chronic pain management is essential. An up-to-date knowledge of the evidence base for managing this patient group is also required.
