As a Pharmacy Technician, you will play a vital role in supporting patients, doctors, and administrative staff to ensure an efficient, effective, and safe prescribing system. This involves a variety of responsibilities.

To be eligible for this role, you must be registered with the General Pharmaceutical Society and possess a BTEC/NVQ Level 3 or equivalent in pharmaceutical sciences. While previous experience as a qualified, registered Pharmacy Technician is preferred, it is not mandatory.

The Pharmacy Technician will receive support from the GP Prescribing Lead and the PCN Clinical Pharmacist team.

Main duties of the job

Participation in daily requesting of repeat prescriptions to ensure high quality, safe and timely repeat prescribing. Provide supervision, training and professional leadership to the administrative staff. To perform synchronisation of medication supplies; perform amendments to issue durations of prescriptions to match actual medication use duration; co-ordinate and lead efforts to satisfy medication monitoring requirements; liaise with the administrative team regarding patient discharge information and clinical letters to perform medication reconciliation Respond to medication queries from patients and staff, take appropriate action The Pharmacy Technician will review clinic letters and hospital discharge summaries for changes to medication, either new medication added, or medication discontinued

About us

We have two GP partners, 4 salaried GPs, Paramedic, Diabetic Specialist Nurse, Practice Nurses and HCAs, all of which are supported by our experienced administration team. We also have ARRS roles linked to the Practice. We are a GP training practice and teach Birmingham Medical students.

The Dove Medical Practice is a GMS non-dispensing practice and look after approx. 10,000 patients with a growing list size. We are incredibly proud of how we provide care for our patients. Job description

Experience

Essential

Up to date clinical knowledge of drugs and procedures and familiarity with key prescribing information resources. Knowledge of administrative procedures Working knowledge of Microsoft Office including Word and Excel

Desirable

Experience of working with repeat prescribing systems. Previous primary care medicines management experience. Working knowledge of GP clinical systems (EmisWeb) Awareness of a range of Health Services provisions. Previous GP Practice experience

Qualifications

Essential

BTEC or NVQ level 3 in Pharmacy Services or equivalent Current registration with the General Pharmaceutical Council.
