The Opportunity:
Reporting into the Infrastructure Services Manager as part of a wider team of IT Infrastructure engineers and working closely within the team. The primary function of this role is to support and maintain the global CATO/Cisco network.

Position Responsibilities:

  • Support the global Cisco, WAN, Edge, LAN and Wi-Fi network infrastructure and CATO SASE environment.
  • Proactively monitor the network infrastructure using the suite of open-source tools available.
  • Maintain comprehensive documentation of all aspects of the network infrastructure.
  • Use Network Automation tools where possible to ensure consistency of device configuration and minimize outages and the risk of human error in all aspects of network management and administration.
  • Work with 3rd party suppliers to ensure that the network estate is under contracted support with Cisco (where applicable).
  • Proactively plan for network hardware refreshes, based on product End of Support (EOS) data.
  • Work with IT Site Support to ensure that any new branch office deployments are sized and specified in accordance with standard branch office design, and then configure and install network equipment.
  • Ensure that all device configurations are backed up.
  • Troubleshoot any network outages and performance issues using the available tools.
  • Maintain tracking of network hardware, software, and licenses.
  • Monitor assigned helpdesk tickets and to provide service within support specifications.
  • Maintain & update networking knowledge and skills in line with industry trends and best practices.
  • Perform hardware and software upgrades as required.
  • Travel to office and field sites to provide local support where necessary.
  • Provide weekly status report to respective Line Manager.

Skills and Experience:

  • The ideal candidate will be certified to at least Associate level (CCNA) in Cisco Networking or have equivalent experience with a minimum 3 years demonstrable, hands-on experience in a Cisco focused Network Engineering/Administration role.
  • The ideal candidate should also have demonstrable knowledge of and ability to support a Cisco Network associated with an international 200+ employee business and have a working knowledge of CATO networks.
  • Must be pro-active, dependable, self-motivated, detail-oriented and have excellent customer service, organisational and planning skills. Ability to work and communicate effectively with other department and company personnel is a must.
  • The ideal candidate must be passionate about network engineering and learning/adopting news skills and technologies that are taking the industry forward, particularly around network automation and DevOps methodologies and best practices.
  • A requirement is to be flexible where necessary in working hours and the ability to travel to meet and where possible exceed the demands of corporate staff and end users. Effective communication with customers and within the IT Department is a must, as this is a service position the professional application of customer service and communication skills is always expected.
  • He/she must possess an intellectual curiosity about their work and must possess excellent oral and written communication skills being able to work effectively with others in a team environment and build relationships with all work groups through strong interaction, on a Global basis.
