Buckinghamshire, United Kingdom Buckinghamshire Healthcare NHS Trust Full time

Job summary

Buckinghamshire Healthcare NHS Trust are seeking Anaesthetic and ICM Trust registrars to join our rapidly expanding ACSA-accredited Anaesthetic and Critical Care department. It is anticipated that the post holder will have a minimum of 2 years anaesthetic experience, including basic competency in ICM. This post is available from 7th August 2024. The post is designed to give invaluable experience especially in Intensive Care and Obstetric Anaesthesia and the programme can be arranged to suit the requirements of the applicant. It would be suitable for those aiming to 'top-up' skills and knowledge prior to commencing Specialty Training in Anaesthesia or Intensive Care Medicine.

Buckinghamshire Healthcare NHS Trust is a split site NHS Trust which provides anaesthetic and critical care services at High Wycombe and Stoke Mandeville Hospitals. The successful applicants will be expected to work across both sites for daytime activity, although out-of-hours work will be based at either SMH or WH for the duration of the 12-month post.

These are replacement posts which have been created to meet the increasing demands upon the Anaesthetic and Critical Care Department in recent years and to accommodate a 1:10 person out-of-hours rota. All applicants must hold a FULL GMC Registration with a Licence to Practice in the UK.

Main duties of the job

The department provides clinical anaesthesia and intensive care services for all the surgical specialties to be expected in a large district general hospital. Programmes can be developed to suit individual requirements. Trust Doctors can continue with preparation for the FRCA examination, if necessary. Attendance at FRCA teaching can be supported where possible.

Successful candidates with the fellowship can expect to contribute to the teaching and supervision of less experienced colleagues. There is an academic half day each month when no elective surgery takes place; these feature audit presentations, clinical governance, presentations by visiting lecturers and meetings with other departments.
