Job overview

The post holder is responsible for ensuring that standardised methods and procedures are used for efficient and prompt handling of all Changes, in order to minimise the impact of Change-related incidents upon service quality, and consequently to improve the day-to-day operations of the organisation.

This is an on-site role based at the Leigh Hospital Site but working across any of the Trust locations if required.

Additionally, the post holder would be responsible for all Change Management activities, to include new business change planning, Change Advisory Board (CAB), the production of management information, Request for Changes and a change schedule.

The post holder will also be responsible for Change Management team members both professionally and managerially; ensuring tasks delegated are managed appropriately and within timescales.

Main duties of the job

To refine and enhance the scope of the Change Management processes and function To take responsibility for all aspects of the Request for Change process with all sections of IM&T and Trust departments To investigate and resolve specialist or highly complex technical issues and faults occurring in hardware and software – especially those requiring advanced expertise To ensure new systems are fully documented as part of the acceptance through the Change Management process, in accordance with computer industry techniques and standards and, in accordance with specific guidance from National, Regional or Trust Standards To give advanced technical guidance to Team Leaders and other members of IM&T staff

Detailed job description and main responsibilities

To deputise for the IT Service Delivery Manager as require To control and monitor all system changes within the Trust to ultimately ensure full compatibility with existing systems and architecture. Ensuring that no operational systems are negatively impacted by the introduction of new systems or hardware, upgrades to existing systems or hardwar To project manage the implementation of all Changes within the scope of Change Management within IM&T and their impact on the whole of the Trust To lead changes of culture, approach, systems and processes within IM&T, as a result of which at all levels of the department and within other directorates retain “ownership” of processes and see them as a positive contribution to their work To be responsible for all Change Management activities, to include new business planning, Change Advisory Board (CAB), the production of management information, Request for Changes and a change schedul Identify and recommend value for money technical solutions to improve the efficiency and effectiveness of the IT Infrastructure ensuring that new developments are compatible with the Trust’s existing infrastructure and IM&T Strategic plans and provide detailed project plans to accomplish successful introduction of new specialized technologies Undertake project management duties as required in accordance to Trust methodologie To be the main lead of maintaining the IT Services web pages on the Trust Intranet including developing and adapting complex web pages and reports and to be the main point of contact for any Intranet related development issues that arise from other department To maintain and configure the IT Services Departments Change Management Syste Contributes to policy developments for IM&T services, including strategic planning, hardware, software, and LAN (Local Area Network) / WAN (Wide Area Network) / Wireless networking procurement, choice of methods and standards

Qualifications

Essential criteria

Educated to degree level or equivalent and extensive experience. Or extensive NHS IM&T experience and formal technical qualifications ITIL Foundation PRINCE 2 Foundation

Desirable criteria

ITIL Practitioner Prince2 Practitioner Management qualification Evidence of CPD

Experience

Essential criteria

Extensive IT Services environment Specific Networking principals including LAN, WAN and networking protocols e.g. TCP/IP, SNMP, Routing and Switching Working in a pressured environment with conflicting demands on time and resource management Planning and Directing projects Tracking and delivery change benefits Managing risks and issues, dependencies and constraints in change requests

Desirable criteria

Security related tools and processes and procedures An excellent understanding of NHS processes and practices

Knowledge of Project / Change management controls and techniques In-depth specialist knowledge of infrastructure software and proven hardware skills in computers, servers, storage, operating in a 24/7 environment; Operating System skills to include all variations of Unix and Microsoft Desktop / Server. Microsoft Office products

Knowledge of the use of information and information systems in the NHS Knowledge of ISO27001, Cyber Essentials, Cyber Essentials Plus, Data Security Protection Toolkit DSPT
