We are currently looking for a proactive Deputy Ward Manager, who will join our team at The Cavell Centre. If you are looking for a dynamic role where you are able to showcase your high level of patient care and staff management, this is a fantastic opportunity to demonstrate your skills.

The ideal candidate will have commitment to teamwork, a sense of accountability, plus an ability to work under pressure. The post holder will provide quality evidence-based nursing advice, support and care for service users with mental and physical health needs and to their carers within a multidisciplinary setting.

You will be responsible for leading on the assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation of nursing care on night shifts, and will have a good level of knowledge of local, national policies and legislation which govern current service provision.

The post holder will be responsible for identifying and contributing to the training needs of junior registered and unregistered staff and ensure that issues of equality, diversity and rights are dealt with in accordance with good practice and legislation.

You will ensure that effective communication pathways exist, and act within your sphere of responsibility, leading the shift in the absence of the Clinical Nurse Specialist, Ward Manager or the designated deputy. 

Main duties of the job

Our adult mental health inpatient ward -- model is an innovative redesign of acute mental health inpatient care. Time-limited inpatient pathways for assessment ( days), treatment ( weeks), and recovery ( months) replace traditional acute wards.

Oak is our recovery ward based in Peterborough. Our focus is on providing care which is structured, planned and meaningful in an environment which allows patients to be supported by a range of staff, whose main goal is to empower and involve patients and their loved ones in our care.
