You will support the Senior Finance Officer in advising and training academic, research, and support staff on College financial procedures and work closely with HR and Research Services counterparts to ensure an efficient and professional service delivery.


You will be responsible for maintaining strong expenditure and income controls and records to ensure auditable oversight of departmental finances, including the following activities:

Check and approve expense claims and oversee Academic Departments’ expenditure control processesCheck and approve purchase orders above a minimum threshold and up to an agreed amountDelete and amend purchase orders according to the College timetableProgress complex orders, payments, transfers etc. where requiredSupport the Senior Finance Officer to open and close accounts as requestedRefer invoice queries as appropriate to relevant staff within the departments and track progressProcess journals as required and maintain supporting documentation as an audit trail for each journalRecharge Research Groups for central services on a monthly basisSupport the Senior Finance Officer to create and maintain expenditure and income control mechanisms for departmentsRaise income invoice requests as requiredMaintain and develop Departmental finance records and databasesAssist as required with processing of bursariesSupport the Senior Finance Officer with ad-hoc analysis and planningProvide support to other Finance Clusters within Natural Sciences in times of absence and at peak times.

You will bring your experience and knowledge from Accounts Payable and Billing tasks at Imperial as the solid foundation upon which you will develop new skills and gain experience in an Academic and Research Department.


We will support you in building further skills and gaining valuable exposure to the business within two world-leading Academic and Research Departments.
