About the Role:

Protocol Education is seeking an experienced and proactive IT Technician to support the IT infrastructure of a secondary school in Sunderland. This is a fantastic opportunity for someone with strong technical skills and a passion for supporting education to ensure the smooth operation of all IT systems across the school. The role is initially on a temporary basis, with the potential for a permanent position.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide first-line technical support to staff and students, addressing hardware, software, and network issues
  • Install, configure, and maintain IT equipment, including PCs, laptops, printers, projectors, and interactive whiteboards
  • Manage user accounts, permissions, and security settings in accordance with school policies
  • Troubleshoot network and Wi-Fi connectivity issues, ensuring minimal disruption to school operations
  • Assist with the installation, updating, and maintenance of software and server systems
  • Maintain inventory records of all IT equipment and manage repairs or replacements when necessary
  • Support school events by providing technical assistance with AV and IT equipment
  • Collaborate with teaching staff to enhance the use of technology in the classroom

Requirements:

  • Proven experience as an IT Technician, ideally in a school or educational setting
  • Strong knowledge of Windows operating systems, networking, and hardware troubleshooting
  • Familiarity with server management and cloud-based systems
  • Excellent problem-solving skills with attention to detail
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to support staff and students effectively
  • Relevant IT certifications (e.g., CompTIA A+, Microsoft certifications) are advantageous

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
