We are looking to strengthen our Health and Safety team with a Service Avoidance Expert & Trainer based across the Severn Trent Region

You will report directly to the Health and Safety manager and your role will be working within the Safety, Health, Environmental and Quality (SHEQ) team, you will help support and embed our service avoidance strategy for the region. You will have a working practical knowledge of all current service location and avoidance practices, including industry best practice. Supporting our operational teams, you will provide guidance and support to ensure our workforce are confident in their ability to locate, mark and avoid underground and above ground services. Give continuous support to ensure our workforce are implementing industry standard safe digging practices.

.Key responsibilities will include

Assist site teams to establish local, specific, service avoidance plan which promotes our ‘Vac Ex as first principal’ approach. Provide competency assessments for new employees and subcontractors in the use of service avoidance equipment (Cat & Genny) Provide incident investigation support Proactively champion innovation and best practice in Service Avoidance Review Cat & Genny usage data and provide upskilling/coaching where identified Coaching and mentoring of safe dig practices
