The Institute for Social and Economic Research wishes to appoint a Participant Liaison Officer to assist with a range of survey related tasks on the Understanding Society: UK Household Longitudinal Study (UKHLS).
tracks changes in people’s lives over time – following everyone from an initial sample covering 40,000 households across the UK. It plays a pivotal role in generating data that enables researchers and policymakers to understand the changing lives of people.
Duties of the Role
The successful candidate will play a role in the day-to-day operations of Understanding Society. The post-holder will work within the Participant Liaison team responding to telephone calls, emails and letters from a representative sample of the UK, and with the Communication and Survey teams to review participant communications more broadly.
The post-holder will also be involved in recording contact detail changes in the database and, where appropriate, informing the sub-contracted fieldwork company using a secure on-line portal. You will also be involved in other administrative duties, such as recording the content of forms which are returned to us, printing and despatching personalised responses to sample members and contributing to other survey activities such as questionnaire testing and coding.

Qualifications and Skills required
The successful candidate will have a minimum of 5 GCSEs A-C (or equivalent, to include Maths and English) and experience in an office-based customer service role, dealing with the general public.
This post is fixed-term for 24 months to cover a period of increased workload for the team.
Applications are welcome for full-time and part-time hours where applicants are able to work a minimum of 0.6 FTE (21.6 hours per week).
