Job summary
Are you good at multi-tasking? Would you like to be part of a team preparing adult patients for their surgical admission?
You would be required to work as a member of the surgical pre-operative team under the direction of the trained nursing staff. Your role would include undertaking a range of investigations required to assess the patient's fitness for surgery.
Skills required would include accurately obtaining patient observations, ECGs, blood samples, urine samples, MRSA and CRE/Candida Auris swabs.
Good communication skills are essential between patients, pre-operative assessment staff and the multi-professional team. Additionally, you may be asked to perform some clerical duties. This will include answering telephone enquiries, filing and preparing of medical notes and some basic computer work.
This position will not be supported for visa sponsorship. All applicants are expected to have valid right to work document to work in the UK when applying for this position.

Main duties of the job
To work as a member of the nursing team under the supervision of the trained nurses on the Pre-Operative Assessment Clinic. Carrying out basic initial assessment of the patients attending the clinic. To provide support for the Registered Nursing staff in maintaining a stable a stable and safe environment. Where appropriate provide clerical support to trained nurses in the clinical area.

Job description
Job responsibilities
Gives and maintains a high standard of patient care at all times, ensuring the dignity and self-esteem of the patient is preserved.
Is aware of the physical, psychological and spiritual needs of the patient and endeavours to meet these at all times.
Undertakes height, weight, Blood Pressure, Pulse, Respiratory rates, Oxygen Saturation levels and urine tests
Performs infection control screening as directed by the Infection Control Policy
Escorts patients and accompanies them to other wards, departments, hospitals etc. as requested by the nurse-in-charge
Is aware of the location of resuscitation/emergency equipment and procedures
Participate in collecting data for the purpose of audit.
Following training, undertakes Electrocardiogram and Phlebotomy on selected patients
Monitoring of stock items and ordering as required.
