Job summary

Thisis a full time appointment for a Trust Grade Doctor in Renal Medicine. Theappointment is for 6 months.

Thepost is based in the renal unit at St James Hospital, supporting all aspects ofrenal care including renal transplantation. You will be an integral part of therenal unit working as part of the large multi-professional team. You will beworking as part of a 1 in 12 out of hours rota.

Main duties of the job

Thepost holders will be an integral part of the renal unit working as part of thelarge multi-professional team.

Youwill be involved in the running of the inpatient ward areas including the renaltransplant team and the outliers team. You will also support the haemodialysisand peritoneal dialysis units and be involved in assessing patients on our dayunit.

You will be provided with weekly teaching and be ableto attend outpatient services including clinics. There will also be the opportunity to beinvolved in audit, quality improvement projects and undergraduate teaching

About us

Therenal unit in Leeds is in St James Hospital, part of the Leeds TeachingHospitals NHS Trust. The unit is a tertiary referral centre for patientsthroughout Yorkshire. All aspects of renal care are provided including acutetransplantation. There are two inpatient wards, and outreach service (includinghaemodialysis) to the Leeds General Infirmary, onsite haemodialysis for 130patients, a peritoneal dialysis unit and a specialist outpatient facility.Haemodialysis is delivered to 800 outpatients via the 7 satellite units.Trainees are integrated into the workings of the unit, participating in allfacets of the multi-professional teams. There is an active research programme,a well-developed audit and clinical governance system and there areopportunities for trainees to pursue areas of specialist interest within this.
