Thetford Academy is seeking an inspiring, innovative, and dedicated Teacher of Business and Social Sciences to join our team. We are seeking a teacher who shares our belief that all pupils have the right to succeed and have access to the very best education.

A range of subjects are offered in our RE & Social Sciences department, including RE, Business, Psychology, Sociology and Criminology. There is very high uptake of these subjects at KS4 and in the Sixth Form.

The ideal candidate would offer Business and one or two other subjects, but we are willing to consider a teacher in any of the specialisms we have.

You will be part of a team that delivers a broad, balanced, and inclusive curriculum for students. You’ll monitor and support students’ progress and development and contribute to raising standards and attainment, whilst motivating and challenging students to achieve their very best. You will work with the department to contribute to improving and developing current curriculum resources.

The ideal candidate will have:

An appropriate degree and other qualifications required for the award of QTS.

Qualified Teacher Status (trainees should be on track to achieve QTS before taking up the post).

Experience of teaching the subject in a secondary school across the 11-18 age range.

Experience of the wider role of a teacher in the personal development of pupils, including the main responsibilities of a form tutor.

Knowledge of the statutory requirements concerning Equal Opportunities, Health & Safety, SEND and Child Protection.
