Job summary

Work with the Named Nurse for Safeguarding Children to develop and embed the safeguarding children policy.

Ensure compliance by the organisation with legislation and statutory guidance and ensure it is disseminated and implemented at clinical level.

Represent the Trust with partner agencies and within the multi-agency arena to safeguard children.

Provide supervision and advice to clinicians and all other NCA staff to ensure children are safeguarded. There is a requirement within this role to attend the acute Hospital site and community base to support staff in recognising and responding to neglect or abuse concerns.

Main duties of the job

Provide duty nurse support on a rotational basis (Mon to Fri) to advise NCA staff regarding safeguarding aspects of their delivery of care. There is an aim for the team to visible to the acute and community during the working week.

Deliver safeguarding supervision to caseload holders and also to identified professional groups within NCA.

Participate in health specific and multi-agency task and finish groups etc. to contribute to service improvements and ensure lessons learned from Child Safeguarding Practice Reviews are embedded in NCA policies and procedures.

Act up for the Named Nurse where necessary to represent the organisation within the multi-agency partnership arena.

Participate in regular audits to ensure assurance can be given that care delivery from a safeguarding perspective adheres to NCA policies and procedures.

This vacancy is open to those who have a current NMC PIN to practice as a Registered Nurse or Midwife in the UK, or those who are currently enrolled on a course which means they expect to receive their full NMC Pin within the next 2-3 months. Please note an NMC PRN Pin is not a full NMC Pin and would not fulfil the essential criteria for this role.

The NCA can no longer accept applications from International Nurses and Midwives who are yet to complete all competencies needed to receivea full NMC PIN to practice in the UK as we have paused our OSCE programme indefinitely.
