Job summary

We are seeking to appoint a specialist grade in geriatric medicine to provide medical support toour consultants and work within Adult and Specialist Rehabilitation (ASR) Division. This is anew post and we are seeking an enthusiastic and motivated colleague who is willing to be agood team player and be flexible in their approach to working in a community trust

Main duties of the job

The Geriatric Medicine Service and Specialist Rehabilitation are two services in ASR Inpatient and West Midlands Rehabilitation Centre Clinical Groups. We aim for closer integration of the services so that whilst maintaining specialist skills of each service, we develop closer collaboration in clinical skills, teaching, learning, audit, research, and innovation to enhance patient safety and improve outcomes and clinical effectiveness. We have also recently expanded to include the provision of virtual senior clinical oversight to the Urgent Community Response (UCR) and the Virtual Ward services which are embedded within our Adult Community Service division another clinical Division in Birmingham Community Healthcare NHS Trust (BCHC) NHS Foundation Trust. Geriatric Medicine has undergone a major transformation over the last four years as part of the response to system pressures. Service transformation and innovation works are continuing, and we strive to provide the best care available nationally to our expanding and increasingly frail elderly population. We aim to work closely with our acute partners in the care of frail older adults, provide medical care integrated with rehabilitation and reablement, reduce disability, optimise the level of function and quality of life, recognise the end of life, and provide person-centred care in the right place and at the right time.

MRCP UK or equivalent Full Registration with GMC with licence to Practice completed minimum of 12 years' medical work (either continuous period or aggregated) since obtaining a primary medical qualification of which a minimum of 6 years should have been in a relevant speciality in the speciality doctor and or closed SAS grades. Evidence of ability to lead within multi -disciplinary teams, ensuring high quality care and colleagues morale

Desirable
