Peterborough, United Kingdom Cambridgeshire and Peterborough NHS Foundation Trust Full time

Job summary

One of the current significant gaps in service provision in Peterborough is for the treatment of severe mental health illness amongst the group of people struggling with alcohol and drugs misuse.

We know that there is a significant overlap between addictions and severemental illness and undiagnosed, unmanaged mental health illness within this group of people makes recovery harder to achieve and maintain. Patients with a dual diagnosis often fail to get an initial diagnosis, or adequate treatment for their SMI, because they do not manage to attend appointments and, if they do manage to get a diagnosis, they do not easily follow treatment protocols.

The Dual Diagnosis Outreach Team address some of these problems, operating as an outreach service, working flexibly with service users and other agencies. Prioritising support for those rough sleeping who are unable to access service.

Successful applicants will be strong team workers with demonstrable commitment and enthusiasm for working with stakeholders. This is an exciting opportunity to work with a busy and innovative team whose aim is to enhance the chances of local people achieving and maintaining optimal mental health within Peterborough.

Main duties of the job

You will be involved in the delivery of interventions under supervision from qualified practitioners in the team.

You will support around social inclusion for service users; much of your work will be out and about in the community with our partners and supporting some of our most vulnerable population in accessing mainstream community services.

Please note for this role you will be required to travel independently around the county meeting strict time deadlines. You will need to hold a full UK driving licence* and have use of a vehicle. You cannot usepublic transport for this role as this is not a reliable form of transport and will not allow you to meet service needs. Please confirm in your application that you meet the specified criteria.
