We are seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic EAL (English as an Additional Language) Intervention Teaching Assistant to join our dynamic team at a thriving secondary school in Oldham. This is a fantastic opportunity for a passionate individual to make a significant impact on the educational journey of students who require additional support in developing their English language skills.

Key Responsibilities:
  • EAL Support: Provide targeted support to students whose first language is not English, helping them to develop their language skills and fully access the curriculum.
  • Intervention Sessions: Deliver one-on-one and small group intervention sessions tailored to students' specific language development needs.
  • Classroom Assistance: Assist teachers in planning and preparing resources to support EAL students in mainstream classes.
  • Progress Monitoring: Track and assess students' progress, providing regular feedback to teachers and parents.
  • Resource Development: Create engaging and effective learning materials that cater to the needs of EAL students.
  • Encouragement: Foster a supportive and inclusive learning environment that encourages students' confidence and self-esteem.
Requirements:
  • Qualifications: Relevant qualifications or experience in teaching or supporting students with EAL needs. A TEFL/TESOL qualification would be advantageous.
  • Skills: Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build positive relationships with students, staff, and parents.
  • Experience: Previous experience working with EAL students in a school setting is desirable.
  • DBS Check: A valid Enhanced DBS Certificate or willingness to apply for one.
