Job summary

We have an exciting opportunity to join our Trust as Deputy Chief Operating Officer. Reporting to the Chief Operating Officer, esponsible for the operational management and delivery of the Trust Elective Recovery programme, for RTT, Cancer and Diagnostics standards. They will play a key role as a system leader across the elective pathway and will work closely with colleagues across commissioning, Primary Care Networks, and Cancer Alliances to deliver clinically effective care and sustainable services.

We are looking to speak with motivated, compassionate, and resilient leaders with extensive leadership experience in an NHS healthcare provider setting. You will have an excellent track record of delivery at a senior operational level plus evidence of success in elective recovery, RTT and Cancer. You will be confident and comfortable engaging with stakeholders at all levels and be expected to establish and maintain relationships which enable the Trust to operate effectively with clinicians, managers and partners focused on improving outcomes and services to patients.

Main duties of the job

As DCOO, you will be responsible for the transformation of patient pathways, recovery and sustainability. This will include visible, collaborative leadership and support to the clinical divisions to deliver transformation, efficiency and quality improvement across elective services. In addition you will play a key role in overseeing the implementation of new services, such as the Community Diagnostic Centre, and will ensure that operationally, the Trust is well positioned to delivery our long-term strategy.

Person Specification

Qualifications

Essential

Educated to Masters Level or equivalent in a relevant discipline. Recognised postgraduate Leadership or Management qualification, or proven equivalent knowledge and experience. Evidence of substantial continuing professional and personal development, including project / change management, budget management and service development.

Experience

Essential

Extensive understanding of the national elective standards and how they are delivered operationally in an acute setting Extensive experience in a senior management post within a relevant complex NHS healthcare organisation. Substantial experience at a senior operational level at 8D and above level or equivalent within an acute, complex healthcare organisation Proven experience of management and leadership exercised through / alongside senior clinical staff. Demonstrable results of programme delivery. Proven ability of managing resources: people, finance and materials. Experience/evidence of managing high level, complex projects, delivering targets within constraints and on time. Proven track record of high level change management and modernisation. Persuasive negotiator, being able to put together convincing, well supported arguments.
