Job summary

Dietetic Administrator (band 3) based at Royal Berkshire Hospital Reading. (30 hours per week)

This is an opportunity to work as an administrator supporting the dietetic team at the Royal Berkshire Hospital.

As the successful candidate, you will be joining a team of over 20 committed and welcoming dietitians. You should be passionate about providing an excellent service. Experience of working in an administrative role within a health care setting is essential.

The role will involve patient contact and dealing with messages from staff and patients.. The department covers both adult and children services, messages may contain sensitive information and relate to a wide range of medical conditions including end of life care.

We are a forward thinking department that has a strong focus on patient centered service. As a forward thinking team we have a focus on the use of technology and you should be competent and confident in the use of technology.

We encourage service development and have an established quality improvement programme driving the service forward.

The post is 30 hours worked flexibly over 5 days Monday to Friday.

Reading is the largest town in the UK with great shopping, evening night life, restaurants and London is less than half an hour by train.

Main duties of the job

You will be based at the Royal Berkshire Hospital in Reading working closely with the dietetic team. As the main point of contact for the service your main responsibilities would be:

To ensure good communications are maintained across the team

Maintain good communication with the wards and departments across the hospital

To take messages from patients and deal with sensitive information in an empathetic manner

To book and monitor all patient appointments within the Dietetic service

To maintain all office systems and admin processes

Contributing to the service improvement programme in the department

NVQ Level3/3 A levels or equivalent Qualification for administrative skills and duties

Previous Experience

Essential

Experience of working in an NHS or social care setting undertaking a whole range of administrative duties

Experience of using healthcare software packages

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

Advanced working knowledge of MS office packages Excellent written communication skills Excellent team working
