Our Acute Assessment and Frailty Therapy team are looking for a Clinical Lead Occupational Therapist to support the implementation of a new and exciting way of working at the trust. You will use your excellent organisation, prioritisation and delegation skills to support the delivery of therapy assessments and intervention across the emergency department and assessment areas across the trust.

We believe the best thing for our patients is to receive the right care, in the right place, at the right time and therefore our focus is to avoid unnecessary admission to hospital in a safe and caring way. To achieve this you will rely upon your advanced therapeutic assessment and intervention skills, problem-solving skills and effective risk management to achieve positive results for patients.

Main duties of the job

You will provide leadership to the Acute Assessment and Frailty Therapy team alongside the other Clinical Leads, supporting each other to provide integrated, responsive and effective care across all the service areas.

This position will require you to be able to manage both a complex clinical caseload and the leadership and management of the team, therefore it will be important to be organised and to be able to work effectively under pressure.

Your positive approach to collaboration and communication will enhance your working relationships and interactions with team members across the acute and community pathways. Your open and empathetic communication style will also positively impact on patients who may be in a moment of crisis looking to you for help.

Using your advanced clinical assessment skills you will be able to make timely decisions regarding patient care and discharge planning as well as supporting others within the team to do the same.

Job responsibilities

No two days will be the same within this team, covering ever changing assessment areas youll always be on the go Alongside your team you will need to identify patients appropriate for therapy input, complete the assessment, treatment and discharge planning of a variety of patients and liaise with community teams to ensure patients are able to leave hospital in the safest way. You will also need to manage the day to day running of the team alongside the clinical lead physiotherapist as well as providing evidence and audits as to the effectiveness of this new team.

Youll have the opportunity to attend and lead in-service training both within the team and as part of Core Therapies such as the cognitive and perceptual training led by our Occupational Therapy team. You will also lead on regular team meetings for your speciality allowing the team to share ideas, information and learning as well as having the opportunity to just get together and catch up.

There is also band 7 Occupational Therapy forum and a Clinical Leads forum that meet regularly providing a space for discussion with your peers as well as strategic updates and workforce developments.

Qualifications and Education

Essential

HCPC registered Occupational Therapy degree/diploma Clinical expertise in highly complex Acute Medicine Practice Placement Educator

Desirable

Member of the professional body Member of related special interest group Post graduate courses in relevant specialist clinical area

Knowledge and Experience

Essential
