Job Summary

This role provides guidance, and work instruction to an operational team, ensuring the delivery of services with the utmost level of quality and in a safe and secure manner.

This entails coordinating various activities such biometric passport processing, traffic management, customer service delivery along with any other relevant operational tasks. It is crucial to demonstrate flexibility and acknowledge the need to work across multiple sites, which will require attending various locations throughout the working day based on operational demands. Given the 24 x 7 nature of the ports' operations, the job holder will work outside regular hours, including weekends, night shifts and bank holidays.

The Operations Team Leader must possess exceptional organisational skills, contribute to staff development, and excel at fostering collaboration within the team, particularly in high-pressure situations.

This is a full-time position due to start in the Autumn, and working hours will be 42 per week.

Skills and Qualification

  • Be able to demonstrate experience within a supervisory / people management role
  • Previous experience of working within a transport or other fast paced environment
  • Proficient in the use and troubleshooting of smart devices.
  • Demonstrate effective communication and delegation abilities.
  • Proven experience in training and coaching employees
  • Hold a full UK driving licence is essential
  • Always maintain a high standard of behaviour and appearance whilst on duty.
  • Previous exposure to outdoor work, encompassing various weather conditions and flexible working hours
  • Excellent understanding of health and safety procedures (IOSH qualification desirable
