The primary role of Director NeurologyEuropean Medical Engagement Lead (MEL) is to engage in meaningfulpeertopeer scientific dialog with healthcare systemRegional/International Thought Leaders (RTLs) withinEurope.

The Director Neurology European MedicalEngagement Lead (MEL) conducts critical activities that supportadvancing science educating on evolving clinical practicestransforming science into patient care and facilitating thedevelopment of new research collaborations (including Collaborativeand Investigator led Trials and RealWorld Evidence).

The role collaborates with colleagues on capturing medicalinsights and acts as a therapeutic area resource to crossfunctionalpartners. Engagement with TLs should be aligned with medicalstrategies and the role should provide insight back to homeoffice/global teams to inform regional and globalstrategy.

This role is fieldbased and regionalin scope. It is anticipated that the employee will spend 50 to 70%of the time in the field interacting with external stakeholdersincluding investigators and clinical thought leaders whilesupporting internal stakeholders and maintaining a high level oftherapeutic expertise.

KeyResponsibilities:

External Scientific Exchange Medical StrategyAdvisory:

  • Engaging inhighquality peertopeer scientific dialog with key European ThoughtLeaders (TLs) in Neurology focused on pre and perilaunchperiod.
  • Collaborates with European ThoughtLeaders to identify and generate insights on evolving careparadigms to inform medical strategy.
  • Providesstrategic input into education and communication materialsincluding conference symposia.
  • Providesstrategic input into regional access and reimbursementstrategy.
  • Serves as subject matter expert forinternal education for key strategic team members of GPT and othergovernance bodies commercialization crossfunctional teams WWmedical team and Local Medical Teams.

Evidencefacilitation:

  • Facilitatesscientific partnerships and research collaborations with Global andLocal medical teams and other WW functions such as the GlobalDevelopment Team (GDD).
  • Providesrecommendations and insights to the clinical development team onstudy feasibilities and site selection within the therapeutic areabased on knowledge of the field and through direct contacts withpotential investigators as agreed with home office medical andGlobal Development Operations (GDO).
  • Providesrecommendation and insights to build best evidence generation planto address specific regional gaps (incl. access and reimbursementneeds).
  • Proactively discusses BMS majorevidence readouts to investigators partnering with GDD. Reactivelydiscuss major evidence readouts with otherthoughtleaders.
  • Liaises with Neurology expertsand centers to understand clinical levers and barriers to patientaccess in the context of clinical trials and upon commercialavailability of the product.

Medicalengagement:

  • Effectivelycollaborates and communicates with European Thought Leaders to gaininsights into the clinical landscape.
  • Engagesin scientific and clinical conversation to ensure the developmentof a product/disease areafocused medical plan that translates intoeffective launch and Life Cycle Maintenance (LCM)activities.
  • Responsible for conducting evidencereadouts with the most prominent institutions e.g. pivotal toplinedata.
  • Engages with medical societies PatientAdvocacy Groups and guideline discussions asappropriate.
  • Engage Neurology decision makersin selected Academic Medical Centers to help identify barriers andsolutions to improve patient care andoutcomes.

Required QualificationsExperience:

  • 5 years of relevantexperience
  • MD from top clinical practice andhospitalacademic centers
  • Proven record ofdeveloping high impact peertopeer relationships and influence withhigh impact Regional Thought Leaders.
  • StrongNeurology experience required:
    • scientific orclinical area patient treatment trends clinicallandscape
    • clinical trial design andprocess
    • national and regional (Europe)healthcare and accessenvironment.
  • Working in ascientific and/or clinical researchenvironment.
  • Understanding of Europeanenvironment and needs.
