Conference Technician

KEY RESPONSIBILITES: 

On events the conference technician works in close contact with clients and the client’s production company. They work from information supplied to them by the Production Manager in the form of a technical sheet. A Technician can work unsupervised and can oversee a small group of casuals or technicians.

They are responsible for maintaining safe working practices during the build, open and de-rig of events in the ICC and VOX.

It is important that the standard of presentation and equipment is maintained at the ICC and VOX. The conference technician is responsible for reporting all defects of equipment or the building structure to the facilities department.

The conference technician is responsible for performing first line maintenance, PAT (Portable Appliance Testing) testing, storage and cleaning of all technical equipment as specified by the Senior Technicians and Technical Manager.

All the Technical staff at the ICC and VOX are required to be able to rig and operate a complete technical set up for a conference in the small flat floored halls. This includes setting up to 8 microphones (including radio mics), simple generic lighting to top table and lectern and the ability to show a PowerPoint presentation from a computer and other similar duties. 

Although this post is based at the ICC, occasionally there will be the requirement to support events at other NEC Group venues. 


SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE: 

Experience of operating mobile access equipment. 
Confident, articulate, communicator.  Must display a positive and proactive attitude towards work and colleagues.  Excellent soft skills and customer service standards when dealing with both internal and external customers.  Good all-round understanding of sound, AV and lighting equipment.  Computer literate with understanding of PowerPoint.  A good basic level of numeracy and literacy.
