Job summary

The service supports CYP and families providing extra capacity for early intervention support within school and college settings in three core areas:

Providing evidence-based interventions for mild to moderate mental health and emotional wellbeing issues Supporting designated senior mental health leads in each setting Providing timely advice to school and college staff and parents as required

Main duties of the job

You will have experience or a passion to work with children with adverse childhood experiences. You will be an experienced professional with a passion for supporting parent and carers and their children and young people's emotional wellbeing and mental health looking for a new challenge. The post holder will be responsible for supporting service development and embedding services within education and community settings in Barnsley. The post holder will hold a caseload for parent and carers who are supporting children and young people with mild to moderate mental health problems in educational and community settings. This involves the assessment, planning, implementation and evaluation of the care for the parent or carer of the child or young person.

The post holder is also responsible for developing and disseminating packages of care. The care may include a variety of work with parents and carers on an individual and in a group setting. They also offer specialist support, consultation and training to staff within the service and other agencies where appropriate.

Qualifications

Essential

Relevant qualification in youth work/children and families/psychology/counselling/mental health; such as a Diploma in Youth Work, Social work, Psychology or accredited Counselling or equivalent NVQ Level 4 in Children, Young People or families, social care or mental health.

Desirable

Mental Health First Aid Trained Triple P Trained

Experience

Essential

2 years experience of working therapeutically within a Children, Young People and Families setting. Knowledge and experience of safeguarding children and vulnerable adults policies and procedures. Experience of effective engagement with families and carers. Experience of working in a multi-disciplinary team.

Desirable

Knowledge of the functional operation of Adult Mental Health services. Experience of working in a community and/or educational environment Experience of monitoring and recording outcome measures for emotional wellbeing

Additional Criteria

Essential

Understand need for evidence and statistical data collection and achieving targets. IT skills. Team player and a dynamic personality. Has a strong degree of personal integrity.

Proven commitment to continuous professional development Able to work all year round and flexibly as part of a team to best meet business need. Possession of full UK driving licence and access to vehicle.
