I am currently recruiting for a Youth Justice Practitioner to work on behalf of a leading public sector organisation based in Barnsley.

This team is a high performing service that is proud of the innovative and reflective approach it takes to:

Duties include:

- To ensure that children and young people are effectively assessed, planned for, engaged with and suitably reviewed in a manner that enhances the likelihood of their behaviour changing.
- To ensure that practice at all times is fully congruent with best practice, National Standards, legislative, safeguarding and public protection policies and requirements.
- To provide written reports to Referral Order panels, Youth and Crown Courts, Child Protection conferences and other formal forums that are of a high standard and effectively convey the views of the Youth Justice Service.
- To ensure that all personal or confidential data is managed and protected in a lawful and secure way at all times.
- To act as an appropriate role model for children and young people at all times.
- To ensure that the needs of the child are understood in the context of the families in which they live, and to ensure that the needs of those families are recognised and strategies put in place to addressthose needs.
- To work with other agencies to develop, negotiate, broker and oversee packages of support,intervention and challenge to children, young people and their families.
- To act as a representative of Barnsley Youth Justice Service in a range of different environments and convey a positive image of the service.
- To provide duty cover for the service and to cover courts as required.
- To provide work allocation and oversight to Adolescent Support workers, panel members, students and volunteers, as and when required.
- To provide additional support as required within the exigencies of the Service

Working alongside a small and highly skilled team of peers, this role has a broad portfolio of responsibility.

I am looking for people who thrive in highly pressured and challenging environments, as well as have vast experience of working with children young people and families in a collaborative, restorative child friendly way.

You will have a considerable knowledge of the criminal justice system and of how to safeguard others from harm; and this will be underpinned by an understanding of the complex range of factors that lead a child to become involved in the criminal justicesystem.

This role will require some duty work on a Saturday morning on a Rota basis.

An attractive hourly rate of **£19.85 (PAYE)** or **£24.68 (umbrella**) is on offer.
