Job summary

This is a hands on role whilst over seeing the running of the Safe Harbour and managing a small team

To facilitate Safe Harbour provision and staffing in Woking. This is a six-week referral only non-clinical service from 9am 6pm seven days per week for those aged 18 plus.

The aim of the Safe Harbour is to provide service users with a programme of support and psycho-social education tailored around an individuals circumstances and needs as identified on their support plan which:

Reduces the frequency and severity of mental health crises these users may experience; and

Provides them with alternative strategies for de-escalation when they do reach crisis.

Main duties of the job

Manage rotas, ensuringthere is adequate cover for winter pressures holiday and sickness

Solve issues of staff coverwith own and partner organisations as they arise

Undertake monthly team meetingswith all Safe Harbour staff

Deliver one to one monthly supervisionfor staff, ensuring all performance issues, complaints and support needs areaddressed and record on the HR system Breathe

Support with annualappraisals for Safe Harbour staff

Provide support to clientsattending the Safe Harbour both in person and virtually on site, and in thecommunity

Utilise a range ofappropriate skills such as, but not necessarily limited to, active listening,motivational interviewing, and cognitive behavioural techniques

Design and deliver plannedand ad hoc one-to-one and group interventions as part of a six-week rollingwellness programme

Induct clients and createcollaborative and individualised care plans and facilitate the setting of SMARTgoals

Screen and respond toreferrals within 48 hours and keep electronic attendance and participationrecords and complete discharge reports

Assist clients inde-escalating and managing impulsivity, intense emotions and relationshipdifficulties

Create safety plans forthose experiencing thoughts of self-harm, suicide and other risk-taking urges

Key Activities:

With clients

Provide support to clientsattending the Safe Harbour both in person and virtually on site, and in thecommunity

Risk assess clientsattending in acute mental health crisis and contact relevant parties such asthe Community Mental Health Recovery Service (CMHRS) and the Single Point ofAccess (SPA)

Provide a continualassessment of a persons needs regarding their mental health

Work proactively withpartner agency staff to ensure continuity of care

Signpost and/or bridgeclients to internal and external methods of support and make onward referrals

Participate in the on-callrota, ensuring you can respond to urgent calls, follow-up and report incidentsduring Safe Harbour opening times

Attend any necessary meetingsto meet the needs of Safe Harbour

Liaise with the ServiceManager and Head of Operations in preparation for the Service Review andSteering Group Meetings in relation to service delivery

Work with the ServiceManager around operational efficiencies

Work with the ServiceManager around any complaints, grievances and serious performance issues

Work as part of a team ofSenior Workers and communicate well with colleagues working from differentlocations

Develop relationships withservice users, carers and statutory and non-statutory organisations, to providemore integrated preventative and crisis management provision

Ensure high qualityservices are delivered consistently and adhere to best practice guidelines

Take responsibility forpersonal development, identifying personal training needs and participate in regularsupervision and appraisal

Work within the CatalystSupport governance framework
