We are excited to be recruiting to a new Head of Residential Services to provide effective senior leadership and management oversight for our residential homes for children.

Rochdale is widely recognised as making a positive difference to children and families. We have strong partnerships across the Borough which support our Family Safeguarding model, working across localities to make a real impact. We have a pioneering culture, putting relationships at the heart of everything we do, and we have numerous examples of how we have improved outcomes through innovative approaches and best practice.


Our Homes:

We currently have two children’s EBD residential homes in Rochdale providing care to children and young people aged 10-17 which have the combined capacity to offer 9 residential placements. We have a clinical psychologist to support our young people and staff team as well as strong links across the council with the music service, youth service and virtual school.

We also have Our Place, which compromises our No Wrong Door residential hub and Edge of Care outreach offer, to support children and young people to remain in their families or connected family networks. Within the hub we have a Clinical Psychologist, Speech and Language Therapist and a Police Officer; the team work together effectively to provide intensive support to young people and their family.


Our Ambition:

Our three existing homes have been extensively refurbished to ensure the environment is of a high standard to support our children and young people.

We are ambitious for our staff team and are embedding our therapeutic parenting training across our residential service to ensure our staff have the right skills to provide highly nurturing care to our children and young people.

We are about to embark on an expansion of our children’s homes offer, with plans and funding in place for four new children’s homes two of which will support children with SEND.

We will be registering our supported accommodation provision and you will undertake the role of the Registered Manager for this area of the service.

  • Child centred and creative in your approach to the care of young people and have a strong commitment to and understanding of therapeutic care within a residential setting.
  • A leader for our service who can bring empathic challenge, reflection and create a learning environment for staff and a home environment for young people centred on therapeutic parenting.
  • A strong track record of strategic leadership in placements of cared for children and good decision making skills based on excellent child care practice in response to threshold decisions
