Job summary

NHS England working across the South West (NHSE) and the Postgraduate Medical Education Department are delighted to announce a 12-month training secondment opportunity to work as part of the GHNHSFT SuppoRTT Faculty. Post-Graduate Doctors in Training, sometimes take time out from training for different reasons and for varying lengths of time. This can be a difficult and stressful time for the individual. Our in-house SuppoRTT team, part of the regional SuppoRTT NHSE network, supports and helps them to successfully return to work following a break of 3-months or longer. This flexible programme has been designed to include enhanced supervision, clinical simulation days, mentorship and coaching, resilience training, practical advice and sign posting.

Main duties of the job

It is anticipated that the post-holder will spend one ( WTE) or two days ( WTE) on SuppoRTT Faculty Strategy and development at GHNHSFT, lead on an individual SuppoRTT project and gain a PG Cert in Healthcare Leadership and Management or Education ( WTE). Secondment time will be spent at GHNHSFT PGME offices, with flexibility in the work schedule permitted with supervisor's agreement.Applicants wishing to continue their training less than full time will need the agreement of their TPD and will usually be required to work a minimum of WTE in their clinical speciality to remain in training for the year. A trainee may also wish to consider applying for an OOPE.

Job responsibilities

We are looking to recruit a SuppoRTT (Supported Return to Training Fellow) for either or 15 hours per week reaching 1 or 2-days per week for a Fixed Term of 12-months. The post holder will work alongside other relevant team members within the SuppoRTT PGME Team and the SuppoRTT Team within NHS England. They will play a vital role in networking with PGDIT's (Post-Graduate Doctors in Training) across all specialities. They will have evidence of excellent communication skills and a desire and ability to think broadly about improving PGDiT's working lives. They will demonstrate an understanding of our healthcare systems and working collaboratively with the SuppoRTT Tutor, raising the profile of returners' voices. Experience of negotiating with and influencing Trust Colleagues, working to deliver bespoke return to training approaches for our Trust PGDiT's. Demonstrated evidence of leading/influencing change is desirable. An aptitude for presenting ideas and plans to healthcare colleagues.

Essential

A GMC registered doctor working at GHNHSFT: F2, Core, GPVTS, Higher Specialty Trainees, Post CCT Trainees, SAS, LED The trainee is expected to be available to conduct support work on one ( WTE) or two ( WTE) days a week and be available to facilitate the monthly drop-in coffee mornings which are held on Tuesdays. Working days can otherwise be flexible
