Band 4 Occupational Therapy Technician, High Weald Lewes and Havens Assessment and Treatment Service

We are looking for an enthusiastic and committed Occupational Therapy Technician to join High Weald, Lewes and Havens Assessment and Treatment Service which works with adults with severe mental illness in the community.

The team is based at Millwood in Uckfield which is country town set in beautiful Sussex countryside.

Main duties of the job

The key priority of the post is to provide OT focused support to an allocated group of service users to promote recovery and to maintain their independence within the community. We are looking for people who have good communication and people skills, have expertise in working with people with a range of mental illnesses and enjoy working as part of a supportive multi-disciplinary team.

Job description

Job responsibilities

The purpose of this post is to plan and provide programmes of therapeutic activities to people with mental health needs referred to the Assessment and Treatment service, within the framework laid down by a qualified Occupational Therapist. The post holder will have specific responsibility for the implementation and evaluation of creative/practical activities on an individual and group scope of the role involves :-Undertaking highly skilled and specialised support workWorking without direct supervision

providing buddy support for new junior staff and students

Person Specification

Knowledge/Experience

Essential

Significant work experience in health/social care/teaching setting Experience of working with people with mental health difficulties Experience of working with groups/activities Experience of training others in technical/leisure/creative skills Experience of working as part of a team

Qualifications

Essential

Health care or relevant NVQ level 3 or equivalent skills acquired through experience plus Formal teaching qualification to diploma level equivalent. A City and Guilds Final Certificate or equivalent in a relevant subject
