We are a fast-growing global reinsurance speciality company servicing the insurance markets of Lloyd’s, Europe and North America.
Due to continued growth, a new opportunity has arisen for an experienced Claims Technician to further their career in professional lines claims handling.
You will provide technical oversight and handle claims across professional indemnity, financial lines, EL and Lloyds, working closely with our TPA’s and proactively managing claims above DA level through to settlement.
To succeed in this role, you will have strong claims handling technical experience and knowledge, able to provide consistently high-quality claims handling. The role covers PI, FI, D&O, EL and Lloyd’s claims, so a combination of some of those will be beneficial.
Responsibilities• Proactively handle claims, including overall assessment of losses, reserves and negotiations with counterparties to achieve settlement.
• Assist in the management of large, complex, litigated claims and work closely with the manager and the senior handlers to ensure the best resolution of the claim.
• Identify and report new trends or changes in the behaviour of a portfolio, providing input and ideas for ongoing improvements and identifying opportunities for claims savings.
• Assist in the management of complaint cases within regulatory guidelines.
• Working with TPAs to provide assistance with referrals and cases over delegated authority.
• Provide technical assistance in the due diligence process for new acquisitions
• Act as a point of claims expertise with other internal departments to resolve queries, and act in a supporting role to the claims director and claims leaders.
Candidate requirements• A background in one or a combination of the following - PI, FI, D&O, EL and Lloyd’s claims and at least three years’ experience.
• Good knowledge of key terms and conditions in contracts/policies and general knowledge of key legal positions in relevant jurisdictions.
• Strong negotiation and complaint resolution skills, able to negotiate complex issues with counterparties and participate in formal mediations, resulting in successful settlements.
• Effective communication skills and able to develop good working relationships.
• Adaptable, flexible, open-minded approach to change and able to manage own workload effectively, prioritising where necessary.
