What you need to know about the role
This is a front line supervisor position offering twenty four hour engineering cover with the jobholder being responsible for supervising a multi-disciplined team of craft personnel to maximise plant availability and performance.
Principle Accountabilities of the role include:
To determine engineering priorities, as directed by the Engineers to optimise plant availability for production and maintenance. To inspect plant and equipment to meet scheduled and statutory requirements and ensure that any faults identified are remedied. To organise labour and contractors to maximise their utilisation and meet agreed priorities. To oversee maintenance staff and contractors to ensure that they are performing their tasks safely and efficiently and ensure that standards of discipline and attendance/timekeeping of the workforce are maintained at an acceptable level. To arrange for spares and materials to be available to satisfy the needs of the maintenance schedule, subject to stores stock. To diagnose and rectify major faults as they occur in order to maintain production. To ensure that work conforms to accepted engineering standards and recommend improvements to these when appropriate.This is very much a hands-on role, being responsible for engineering maintenance and repair activities across the 2 pipe mills on a shift basis.
The role involves shift working Monday to Friday but job holders would need to be prepared to work a shift pattern that includes weekend working as dictated by the business order load.
What we need to know about you
We’re looking for someone with excellent analytical, organisational and communication skills. Combining your technical and engineering knowledge, you'll know how to collaborate effectively with a range of internal and external stakeholders.
Either qualified to degree level or equivalent in an engineering discipline or a time served craftsperson holding qualifications to HND/HNC level with appropriate technical and leadership experience, you will have significant, demonstrable experience in a similar engineering role. You will also be someone who works well in a fast, high paced, customer focused environment.
