We are looking for a High Intensity Therapist to join our team
In this role you will provide a qualified specialist psychological therapy service to people with severe and enduring mental problems; providing specialist psychological assessment and therapy, advice and consultation on clients' psychological care to non-psychologist colleagues and to other, non-professional carers, working autonomously within professional guidelines and the overall framework of the team's policies and procedures.
This diverse role is part of our Talking Therapies Portsmouth service providing high intensity interventions. The post-holder's role is to provide cognitive behavioural therapy (CBT) service to clients with a range of complex problems for which CBT is demonstrated to be clinically effective. You will work with people with different cultural backgrounds and ages, using interpreters when necessary and should be committed to equal opportunities.

Main duties of the job
Provide specialist psychological assessments of clients referred to the team based upon the appropriate use, interpretation and integration of complex data from a variety of sources including psychological and neuropsychological tests, self-report measures, rating scales, direct and indirect structured observations and semi-structured interviews with clients, family members and others involved in the client's care Formulate and implement plans for the formal psychological treatment &/or management of a client's mental health problems, based upon an appropriate conceptual framework of the client's problems and employing methods based upon evidence of efficacy, across the full range of care settings Evaluate and make decisions about treatment options considering both theoretical and therapeutic models and highly complex factors concerning historical and developmental processes that have shaped the individual, family, or group Exercise autonomous professional responsibility for the assessment, treatment, and discharge of clients whose problems are managed by psychologically based standard care plans Contribute directly and indirectly to a psychologically based framework of understanding & care to the benefit of all clients of the service, across all settings and agencies serving the client group.
About us
We have been working with other local NHS Trusts to create a new organisation, bringing together all community, mental health and learning disability services from across Hampshire and Isle of Wight. Subject to approvals, the aim is for the new Trust to be formed by July 2024.Project Fusion is the name for the programme to create the new combined NHS Foundation Trust. Hampshire and Isle of Wight Healthcare NHS Foundation Trust will be bringing the services into a single organisation will result in more consistent care, more equitable access to services irrespective of postcode, and a more sustainable workforce and services. The new organisation will operate locally to ensure services can best meet the needs of different new Trust will be comprised of all the services currently provided by Solent NHS Trust and Southern Health NHS Foundation Trust, the community, mental health and learning disability services provided by Isle of Wight NHS Trust and child and adolescent mental health services delivered in parts of Hampshire by Sussex Partnership NHS Foundation Trust.Colleagues will transfer to the new organisation under Transfer of Undertakings (Protection of Employment) -- known as TUPE on 1st July 2024. TUPE is a legal process to ensure you transfer out of one organisation and into another, maintaining the terms and conditions of your employment.

Person Specification
Qualifications
Essential
Doctoral level training in clinical or counselling psychology, including specifically models of psychopathology, clinical psychometrics and neuropsychology, two or more distinct psychological therapies and lifespan developmental psychology as accredited by the BPS. Or base mental health profession and BABCP accredited CBT Diploma Registered with Health professions as a Practitioner Psychologist or BABCP as a CBT Therapist
Desirable
Pre-qualification training and qualifications in research methodology, staff training and/or other fields of applied psychology
Experience
Essential
Experience of specialist psychological assessment and treatment of clients across a full range of care settings Experience of working with a wide variety of client groups, across the whole life course presenting problems that reflect the full range of clinical severity including maintaining a high degree of professionalism in the face of highly emotive and distressing problems, verbal abuse, and the threat of physical abuse Experience of teaching, training and/or supervision.-
