Mental Health Support Worker Opportunity in Plymouth

Teaching Personnel is partnering with an SEN Provision in the Plymouth area. The school are innovative providers of education and care, supporting young people aged 10-19 with complex needs, including SEMH difficulties, Asperger’s Syndrome, Autism, and other conditions.

Position: Mental Health Support Worker

Key Responsibilities:

  • Support children with their learning and general wellbeing, ensuring every child has the best opportunity to reach their full potential
  • Assist with care needs
  • Implement positive behavioural management strategies
  • Tailor your approach to meet the individual needs of each child
  • Build warm, caring, and supportive relationships with students
  • Promote and encourage independence and personal development
  • Support the class teacher by contributing to high-quality, challenging, and differentiated educational activities

Ideal Candidate:

  • Patient and capable of dealing with challenging circumstances or emotional behaviour
  • Accepting of diverse lifestyles and understanding of mental health issues
  • Calm under pressure and able to remain composed in stressful situations
  • Flexible in handling behaviour that may present challenges
  • Willing to undergo additional training as offered
