Learning Support Assistant – Urmston (M41)

Are you a compassionate and resilient individual with a passion for supporting students with Social, Emotional, and Mental Health (SEMH) needs?

Are you experienced in behavioural management and capable of providing a nurturing environment for Key Stage 3 and 4 pupils facing challenges?

Teaching Personnel are currently seeking a Learning Support Assistant to work full-time at a PRU in Urmston. This Pupil Referral Unit caters to Key Stage 3 and 4 pupils who may have struggled in mainstream schools due to behavioural and emotional challenges. They focus on providing tailored support and interventions to help our students develop positive attitudes, confidence, and academic progress.

The incoming LSA will be expected to work closely with teaching staff to implement individualized learning plans (Educational Health Care Plans/EHCPs) and behaviour support strategies for students with SEMH needs. This will involve one-to-one and small group support in the classroom, focusing on academic progress and emotional well-being. This will promote a positive and inclusive learning environment by utilizing behavioural management techniques to maintain a safe and respectful atmosphere.

The successful applicant should be comfortable supporting students with severe anxiety, helping them to manage their emotions and engage in learning activities. Therefore, they must be able to build strong rapport and trust with students to encourage their personal development and self-esteem. This will support the LSA as they monitor and record students' progress, behaviours, and achievements, contributing to individual progress reports.

The Learning Support Assistant will also assist in creating and adapting learning materials to meet the diverse needs of the students. They must collaborate with external agencies, parents, and guardians to ensure a holistic approach to student support.
