HMP & YOI Doncaster is a Category B prison and it predominantly serves the courts of South Yorkshire and currently holds up to 1, male prisoners over the age of . We are located in the centre of Doncaster Town Centre within walking distance of the railway station and bus station. As a resettlement prison we work with our prisoners, particularly those serving less than -months, to ensure that they have the support they need to prepare them for release.

Here at Serco, we have a vacancy for an Accommodation Advisor and Facilitator

to join our Offender Management Unit at HMP & YOI Doncaster.

The role of the Accommodation Advisor and Facilitator is a Case Admin position. It will be based within the Resettlement function of the Offender Management Unit (OMU). The Key purpose of the role is to facilitate and deliver group work to a specific group of prisoners. In addition, complete other tasks linked to the resettlement function. Ultimately, we want to provide a service that offers prisoners the best opportunity to be prepared for release and the chance of successfully resettling into the community.

Some of the daily task for this role are listed below:

Attend any training required to be fully competent within the role Contributes towards selecting prisoners against fixed criteria of suitability to attend the programme. Working with other departments to appropriately allocate to the programme Deliver group work to facilitate delivery of the programme, arranging the session and resources required Adapt group deliver to complete on a one to one basis if necessary Approaches potential participants, explains the programme, engages and motivates and ensures informed consent Prepares for programmes sessions including understanding the material and considering the best way to deliver it given the range io feeds and problems presented by group participants Prepare rooms for delivery and make sure that handouts and materials for each session are avaiable and conform to the course standard Provide any additional support where required Set objectives for each prisoner to follow Link in with the Prison Offender Manager to provide feedback Updating prison recording systems (NOMIS/DPS/local databases)to link in with attendance and reporting of commitment to the programme Asist with any Resettlement or Accommodation Events within the prison

Performance and Key Metrics:

Contribute to the delivery and achievement of all performance measures, contract outcomes and locally agreed targets including KPI’s/CDIs as outlined in your personal development review. Adhere to the Code of Conduct. There will be a monthly target set in relation to completion, therefore there will be a requirement to work towards target.

It is important to note that this position is Fixed terms and will be reviewed at the end of March 5. 

What you need to do the job:

We are looking for an individual who has English and Maths GCSE – Grade C or above. The successful post holder must have excellent IT skills – including using Outlook and Excel. It is desirable they have previous experience working within the resettlement function or previously worked within accommodation sector. Additionally, they must have demonstratable experience ins delivering group work or one to one work. It is essential that they have experience working with vulnerable people. Having excellent skills dealing with people and having good written and verbal communication skills are also essential.
