Depot Supervisor

Equans is looking for a Depot Supervisor to join our team in Carlisle on a permanent basis for our EDF contract. This is a full time role working 37.5 hours per week. On offer is a competitive salary and benefits package.
General Overview:
As the depot Supervisor the candidate will be required to deputise for the General Manager in their absence as well as provide line management to the other team members on site, delivering operational standards of excellence and safety. The role will be pivotal in maintaining a high standard of Health and Safety in the depot working with the General Manager and support functions to achieve this. Daily tasks of planning and issuing work orders and setting to work to the maintainers is fundamental to the role; candidates would ideally have previous experience in a supervisory/junior management role in either static or mobile plant activities looking for the next step in career progression. In addition, planned Maintenance Schedules are reviewed and allocated monthly for each piece of plant equipment providing first line Maintenance of the plant stored within the depot facilities. Ensuring that it is consistently maintained and in working order is a key priority. The post holders will also be responsible for assisting with fault finding and diagnosis to determine the next course of action ideally a mechanical bias would assist in this role.
Equipment assessments post operational use would also be required, and defects and faults identified and rectified, reports generated, and parts sourced to return plant equipment back to operational readiness. Plant equipment is maintained at first line maintenance only covering as an example kva Generators, Water Pumps low and High Pressure.
Post holders where required will support Training Activities and the movement of equipment for operational activities. Their will also be an on-call allowance paid of £.00 per annum, if in the unlikely event equipment had to be utilised the role is required to support the deployment and activity during the deployment, allowance is paid equally over 12 monthly payments of £.00. The call outs to the depot are infrequent and do not happen on a regular basis, attendance however is an important element to the role.
They will follow EQUANS corporate practices in all areas with specific emphasis on Health and Safety including Risk assessments, setting to work and toolbox talks ensuring tools are used correctly and adequately maintained and work areas are always kept tidy and free from hazards
Impact:
The Maintenance of the Equipment shall be strictly adhered to in line with the planned maintenance schedules keeping in with the Service Level Agreement and Key Performance indicators. The downtime of any Equipment at any one given time kept to an absolute minimum. The impact of such equipment not being available will reduce the emergency capability to respond to our clients deployment request along with the financial impact on EQUANS and sub-contractors.
Complexity:
Post holders will be required to be logical thinkers with the ability to take a measured step by step approach to analyse information and solve problems.
They must be trustworthy with a high level of personal integrity and can understand and recognise their limits in relation to planned maintenance services activities and faults.
They must be able to remain calm under pressure and be able to respond effectively during operational activities.
Key Responsibilities:
Supervise and lead a team of depot staff, including performance evaluation.
Assign tasks, establish work schedules, and ensure that team members adhere to company policies and procedures.
Foster a positive work environment that encourages teamwork, productivity, and professional growth.
Oversee daily depot operations to ensure timely and accurate execution of tasks.
Monitor inventory levels and coordinate with Stock Controller ensuring accurate records are available.
Develop and implement efficient workflow processes to optimise productivity and minimise operational costs.
Maintain a clean, organised, and safe depot environment, adhering to all health and safety regulations.
Maintain strong relationships with our client, ensuring their needs are met and their expectations are exceeded.
Analyse data, identify areas for improvement, and develop action plans to optimise depot operations.
Collaborate with Depot Manager to develop and implement strategies to achieve operational goals and targets.
Qualifications or Required Experience:
-Previous experience of working with plant and diesel engines with an aptitude for mechanical and or electrical understanding. Upon commencement of post a combination of on-the-job training by a competent authorised person combined with manufacturer training
-Previous experience of working with plant, engines, or machinery and a minimum NVQ2 or city and guilds in an industry related mechanical qualification such as Vehicle Mechanics, Mechanical Engineering. Time served apprenticeship and a higher qualification is desirable but not essential. Upon commencement of post a combination of on-the-job training by a competent authorised person combined with manufactures and on the job training.
Desirable:
It is desirable that post holders already hold or could train to drive an FLT as well as C PLUS E licence (LGV)
Other desirable attributes include experience of JCB and or Heavy Plant/Machinery a general aptitude for Maintenance.
All post holders must receive Driver familiarisation training or achieve appropriate Licences prior to driving the clients assets.
Supervisory experience in a workshop or factory or military environment
