This exciting permanent job-share is ideal for anyone with an interest in Upper GI (OG/HPB) surgery, service development and leadership. 

This specialist role will support the department to deliver high quality care to patients being treated on the Upper GI ward. The role involves working closely with the Oesophagogastric (OG) and Hepatobiliary (HPB) multi-disciplinary teams, who value and respect the role of the Dietitian.

Along with the Team Lead and Clinical Leads, you will support leading the Oncology, Haematology and Elective Surgery Dietetic Team. The team is currently ~ Dietitians and Macmillan Dietetic Support Workers.

Main duties of the job

To be jointly responsible for the development and provision of a highly specialist, evidence based dietetic service to the patients treated within the upper gastrointestinal (UGI) unit at the Churchill Hospital, Oxford University Hospitals NHS Trust (OUHT). The caseload will be primarily oesophogogastric (OG) and hepato-pancreato-biliary (HBP) surgical inpatients. This involves working as an integral member of both the Dietetic team and the multidisciplinary teams to provide a flexible, prioritised service based on clinical need. 

Along with the Service Manager, to be responsible for the dietetic service provided to their clinical area and its development

Participate in departmental audits and initiate audit within own clinical area in order to monitor and evaluate whether local/ national standards are being met and make recommendations for change.

Act as a source of expertise for local dietetic, nursing and medical colleagues and nationally regarding the nutritional management of the identified patient group. 

Along with the Team Lead, Clinical Lead and Dietetic Service Manager plan annual leave, cover arrangements and other leadership tasks.

Educate, train and disseminate information to healthcare professionals about the dietetic management of UGI patients.

Clinically supervise Band , Band rotational Dietitian/s and Band Macmillan Dietetic Support Worker.
