Responsibilities

Constantly review Core Chemical Prep Lab processes and procedures and innovate to find ways to improve efficiency and delivery to our customers. Prepare test standards and generate lab documentation to support in-house and external production requirements. Support the running and daily activities in the Core Chemical Prep Lab. Duties such as; maintaining chemical inventory stock levels, laboratory consumables, glassware, PPE and removal of chemical waste. As well as maintaining good house keeping and compliance in keeping to GLP, H&S and QMS requirements. Carry out routine instrument maintenance, calibration and inspection procedures as well as scheduling annual maintenance of LC and MS instrumentation Create new, and update, processes and work instructions as necessary to support a new product introduction ensuring all processes are ready for full scale production. Coordinate and manage validation activities involving test solutions, test methodology and equipment within the Core Chemical Prep Lab Department. Investigate, troubleshoot and solve anomalies in the production and testing process of any chemical standard produced on site.

Qualifications

Education:

A minimum Bachelors Degree or equivalent in a science subject (preferably Chemistry) or proven experience working as a laboratory analyst in a suitable laboratory environment . a hospital or industrial/commercial analytical laboratory.

Experience:

Familiarity with COSHH, HASAWA, good laboratory practice, the handling, storage and safe disposal of chemicals, the preparation of standard solutions, and calibration of analytical instrumentation . balances, pipettes. A highly organised, self motivated person with a high regard for H&S, attention to detail and experimental record keeping. A proven track record applying ‘Lean’ and ‘Continuous Improvement’ techniques to improve processes at work. A keen ability to troubleshoot, problem solve processes, methods and equipment as part of a flexible team to ensure smooth running of a lab. A solid understanding of Mass Spectrometry and how issues with integrated LC/MS systems may affect testing chemical standards.

Competencies:

Good verbal, interpersonal and written communication skills. The ability to work as an effective member of a team as well as under one's own initiative Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills. Excellent PC skills, dexterity skills and aptitude for mechanical assembly are essential Excellent attention to detail Time management skills, ability to prioritise workloads
