Long- term teachers are working with a fantastic independent SEMH school, based in Westbury, that provides a high - quality therapeutic and child - centred education to boys and girls between the ages of 7 to 17. 


 

It is an incredibly small environment, only up to 20 students at a time, which will allow you to build rapports with all the students. They have a dedicated therapy room, outside space and a modern, light, fresh learning space that is a safe environment for students to enjoy their learning


 

The predominant need of the school includes SEMH, others will have specific learning needs, including autism, ADHD and communication difficulties. Many will have suffered significant trauma and adverse childhood experiences and may have social care involvement. We are looking for HLTAs who will be able to foster the therapeutic approach, who are dedicated, caring and have a passion for supporting vulnerable students. 


 

Within the role you will be expected to:

 

  • Support teachers in the classroom
  • Working with children 1:1 or delivering sessions with small groups of students
  • Managing classroom resources
  • Taking children on trips and visits
  • Having their lunch with children who struggle socially
  • Managing heightened behaviours and keeping children safe
  • Playing board games
  • Conducting science experiments
  • Making amazing displays
  • Celebrating success
  • Part of therapy sessions or reflecting on difficult periods

About you:

  • Must have at least 3 years experience working within special education
  • At least 1 year HLTA experience
  • Ability to manage behaviour 
  • Relevant teaching qualification
  • Excellent understanding of safeguarding policies
  • UK classroom experience 
  • Strong knowledge of UK curriculum

This will be a full time position, working Monday to Friday, term time only, between the hours of 8:30am - 4:30pm. Commencing ASAP, this will be a permanent position.
