DescriptionAs a specialist dermatologist at DMC, you will work autonomously and be responsible for providing specialist dermatological medical services to our patient population. This involves delivering an excellent standard of clinical care in dermatology while adhering to the [GMS/PMS/APMS] contract. You will also comply with the GMC standards for good medical practice and contribute to the effective management of the practice, particularly in dermatological care, while maintaining a positive relationship with the multidisciplinary team.

This role will be situated at our services in Skegness and Sidings in Lincolnshire.
Main duties & responsibilitiesPrimary Key Responsibilities:The core responsibilities of an associate specialist dermatologist include, but are not limited to, the following. There may occasionally be a need to undertake additional tasks depending on workload and staffing considerations: a. Delivering high-quality medical care with an emphasis on dermatology to those entitled. b. Providing specialised dermatological services in accordance with the [GMS/PMS/APMS] agreement. c. Treating a range of skin conditions, including complex and chronic dermatological issues. d. Engaging in dermatology clinics and offering expert guidance to general practitioners. e. Managing dermatological administrative duties, such as referrals and skin-related medication management. f. Performing dermatological procedures and surgeries as necessary. g. Maintaining precise and comprehensive clinical records for dermatological treatments. h. Collaborating with the dermatology department and the broader general practice team. i. Keeping up to date with the latest developments in dermatology and implementing best practices. j. Leading dermatology quality improvement initiatives within the practice. k. Overseeing dermatological aspects of QOF. l. Participating in dermatology-related practice meetings. m. Contributing to the development and maintenance of dermatological services, including clinical governance and training. n. Ensuring compliance with dermatological standards in the appraisal process. o. Engaging in dermatology-specific revalidation. p. Committing to ongoing professional development in dermatology. q. Supporting the training of medical students and junior doctors in dermatological practices. r. Assisting the partners in enhancing dermatological services and practice income. s. Reviewing and adhering to dermatology-specific protocols and policies. t. Promoting a culture of continuous improvement in dermatological care.
 Secondary Responsibilities:In addition to the primary responsibilities, the associate specialist dermatologist may be requested to: a. Participating in dermatology audits. b. Engaging in local initiatives to enhance dermatological service delivery and patient care. c. Involvement in reviewing significant events in dermatology using structured approaches like root cause analysis (RCA).
Personal specification Essential:·       Specialist Dermatology Qualification: Possession of a medical degree alongside a recognised specialist qualification in Dermatology, such as a Diploma in Dermatology.·       Dermatology Experience: Demonstrated experience in managing a broad spectrum of skin conditions, encompassing complex and chronic dermatological illnesses.·       Full GMC Registration and Inclusion on the National Performers List: Active registration with the General Medical Council and listing on the National Performers List.·       Clinical Dermatology Expertise: Proven capability in performing dermatologicalprocedures and surgeries, along with expertise in dermatological pharmacotherapy.·       Outpatient Dermatology Experience: Extensive experience in dermatology outpatient settings, offering diagnostic and therapeutic services.·       Commitment to Evidence-Based Dermatology: Dedication to delivering high-quality, evidence-based care in dermatology.·       Exceptional Clinical and Communication Skills: Outstanding dermatology-specific clinical skills and excellent communication abilities for effective patient care and teamwork with multidisciplinary teams.·       IT Proficiency in Dermatology: Skill in using clinical IT systems pertinent to dermatological practice.·       Leadership and Teamwork Capabilities: Demonstrated leadership in clinical contexts and effectiveness in multidisciplinary team collaboration.·       Continuous Professional Development in Dermatology: Ongoing engagement in professional learning and development within dermatology.·       Research and Academic Contributions: Involvement in dermatological research or education is highly regarded.·       UK Practice Eligibility: Legal entitlement to practice medicine in the UK.·       Knowledge of QOF and Clinical Audit Experience: Familiarity with the Quality and Outcomes Framework and clinical audit experience, especially in dermatology.·       Effective Time Management and Organisational Skills: Capability to efficiently handle a diverse and challenging workload.·       Empathy and Sensitivity: Demonstrated empathy and sensitivity towards patients with dermatological conditions.·       Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) Check: Successful completion of a DBS check.·       Occupational Health Clearance: Required occupational health clearance confirming fitness for clinical practice. Desirable:
  • Experience of Medicines Management: Knowledge and experience in the management of medications, particularly those related to dermatological conditions, including understanding of prescribing practices and medication review processes.
  • Experience of ICB Initiatives: Involvement with Integrated Care Board (ICB) initiatives, demonstrating an understanding of integrated care systems and experience in collaborative work across different healthcare sectors, particularly in dermatology.
·       Experience in Teaching and Training: Involvement in the education and supervision of medical students, junior doctors, or nursing staff in dermatology.
