Dermatology Specialist

The successful candidate will be responsible for delivering high-quality medical care with a focus on dermatology to our patients. This will involve providing specialized dermatological services in accordance with the relevant agreements, treating a range of skin conditions, including complex and chronic dermatological issues. The consultant dermatologist will also engage in dermatology clinics, offer expert guidance to general practitioners, and manage dermatological administrative duties, such as referrals and skin-related medication management.
Key Duties and Responsibilities- Deliver high-quality medical care with an emphasis on dermatology to those entitled.
- Provide specialized dermatological services in accordance with the relevant agreements.
- Treat a range of skin conditions, including complex and chronic dermatological issues.
- Engage in dermatology clinics and offer expert guidance to general practitioners.
- Manage dermatological administrative duties, such as referrals and skin-related medication management.
- Perform dermatological procedures and surgeries as necessary.
- Maintain precise and comprehensive clinical records for dermatological treatments.
- Collaborate with the dermatology department and the broader general practice team.
- Keep up to date with the latest developments in dermatology and implement best practices.
- Lead dermatology quality improvement initiatives within the practice.
- Oversee dermatological aspects of QOF.
- Participate in dermatology-related practice meetings.
- Contribute to the development and maintenance of dermatological services, including clinical governance and training.
- Ensure compliance with dermatological standards in the appraisal process.
- Engage in dermatology-specific revalidation.
- Commit to ongoing professional development in dermatology.
- Support the training of medical students and junior doctors in dermatological practices.
- Assist the partners in enhancing dermatological services and practice income.
- Review and adhere to dermatology-specific protocols and policies.
- Promote a culture of continuous improvement in dermatological care.
- Participate in dermatology audits.
- Engage in local initiatives to enhance dermatological service delivery and patient care.
- Involvement in reviewing significant events in dermatology using structured approaches like root cause analysis (RCA).
The ideal candidate will possess a specialist dermatology qualification, such as a Diploma in Dermatology, and have demonstrated experience in managing a broad spectrum of skin conditions, including complex and chronic dermatological illnesses. They will also have full GMC registration and inclusion on the National Performers List, as well as clinical dermatology expertise, outpatient dermatology experience, and a commitment to evidence-based dermatology. Additionally, they will have exceptional clinical and communication skills, IT proficiency in dermatology, leadership and teamwork capabilities, and a commitment to continuous professional development in dermatology.
The successful candidate will also have experience in teaching and training, and will be familiar with the Quality and Outcomes Framework and clinical audit experience, especially in dermatology. They will have effective time management and organizational skills, empathy and sensitivity towards patients with dermatological conditions, and will have completed a DBS check and obtained occupational health clearance.
